They have become an integral part of how we reach out to people on social media. So if you’re wanting to grow your brand, business or blog and then it’s time to get a firm handle on them.
Put simply hashtags are just keywords with a # in front of them. They are used across most social platforms to search out relevant content. With so much happening on social channels it’s easy to get lost, but if you’re looking for something specific hashtags allow you to find it quickly.
They also help categorise your content and posts, making it easy for your audience to seek them out. Plus helping to grow your audience as they expand your reach to anyone searching for that key term.

It is best not to use hashtags at all on Pinterest. It can actually hurt the chances of your pin being seen by the right people.
If you do choose to use hashtags only use the ones that relevant to subject you’re talking about and use sparingly on Twitter. Also, try to avoid making your own hashtag unless it’s for a competition or you have enough followers to make it a trend. You’ll be wasting valuable real estate in your 140 characters if not.
